The market that was once the pride and joy of Westhoughton has been CUT IN HALF by Labour bosses.
Half of it has become the biggest store cupboard in town… and it comes with a hefty price tag of £120,000.
Under the latest plans by Labour town hall chiefs, half of the market is being used as storage space and it will still only open TWO days a week.
They have also admitted that if their remarkable new plan doesn’t work, they would consider closing the market for good.
Westhoughton South ward councillor, David Wilkinson, said: “While Labour toys with their latest idea, the market is dying on its feet.”
The plans for a replacement market have been ditched. To revamp the existing building would cost £500,000. Cutting the market in half is Labour’s cheaper alternative.
