Locals were left stunned when a huge fence was erected around a green field they overlooked. Residents of Collingwood Way have battled against developers who want to build houses on the green field site. But developers decided to put up the huge fence which spoils the view – and for no apparent reason.

Residents will have to wait until 2009 to see the completion of a footpath replacement programme on Market Street. The cost of replacing the dangerous paving stones on Westhoughton’s main street totals £135,000 but Labour-run Bolton Council has only found £84,000 for the job.

Wait is over for station car park

Daisy Hill railway station’s planned new car park is to get the go-ahead after two years of delays. The much-needed car park was originally approved by Liberal Democrat ward councillor David Wilkinson in 2005 but the plans have been hit with delays since Labour took over the administration of the council.
