The office of Bolton West MP Ruth Kelly is at the centre of a controversy – over new shutters that have been installed at the premises. Kelly’s office is in Wilbraham Street, at the junction of Wigan Road and Market Street, which falls within a conservation area.

Leigh Road residents are calling for road and footpath defects to be repaired whilst the road is closed for major gas works. They have been in touch with the Liberal Democrat team to report a number of broken parts of the road, sunken manhole covers and broken paving stones on the footpaths.

Liberal Democrat Campaigner Jackie Pearcey has condemned proposals to close two Post Offices in Westhoughton. The government has sounded the death knell for the Daisy Hill Post Office, on Leigh Road, and the Hart Common Post Office.

The Hoskers is to be resurfaced shortly as part of a massive £1million investment in our roads and footpaths, thanks to the Liberal Democrat team. Residents had been complaining about the poor state of the road to our team.

The national supermarket chain ALDI are considering building a new supermarket on the site of Greenfields Private Members’ Club, according to press speculation. The club, located at the junction of Wigan Road and Cricketers Way, was going to be demolished to make way for new apartments.
