Concerns have been heightened about the safety of the Wearish Lane and Wigan Road junction after an 11-year-old boy was involved in an accident with a passing vehicle.

    Well, what next – stop all traffic in Westhoughton? Ban cars/vans/buses/lorries!

    Traffic lights -what more to do? EXCEPT – what were the circumstances of the accident? 11 year old out on his own? Not taught about traffic danger? Messing about? Speeding driver?

    Or – emerging from behind a car half-parked on a pavement?
