The football fields at Mill Street are being improved AT LAST by the council.
The council has taken so long to do the work that the field will not be ready for the next season of football.
We have already lost another two football fields as well as the one at Chequerbent in Westhoughton and with this one out of action too, it will anger many local footie players.
Derek Gradwell said: “This is definitely an own-goal for the council – just another example of a bungled job by this Labour administration.“
The field is well-used by local people and it is disappointing that it won’t be ready in good time.”

Just been informed that Mill St will now be turned into more junior football pitches ?? Are there not enough junior
facilities in the Westhoughton area ?? (Daisy Hill, C.M.B, Ladybridge, Westhoughton Rangers, Cross Guns playing field which has a £2500 portable goal post system with storage container sat redundant)
Can someone please tell me where the nearest adult size football pitch is with changing rooms available to
lease ?
If Westhoughton High schools lottery bid doesn’t go through and central drive don’t get the changing rooms, we will
be forced to play our football outside of the borough for another season. We have massive interest to create more teams within the club however a venue is stopping this from happening.
