Council votes NO to phone mast

Bolton Council’s Planning Committee has voted NO to plans to build a phone mast on The Hoskers. Ward councillor David Wilkinson, who is on the committee, welcomed the news. He said: “This was not the right location for a phone mast and I’m pleased that the council has taken this on board and refused the application by Vodafone.”

Plans to build a phone mast on The Hoskers have been submitted to the council, it has been announced.

Our picture here shows the approximate location of where the new mast would be erected, along with an equipment cabinet.

The mast would be 14.3 metres tall (48ft) and the equipment cabinet would be 158cm long, 38cm deep and 135cm tall.

On the drawing submitted by Vodafone the nearest street light column is 8m tall and the tallest tree in the trees on Eatock Lodge in 11 m tall, although the majority of the other trees are much smaller.

The broken road surface of Mabel Street should be resurfaced - that’s the view of your Liberal Democrat councillors.

Your ward councillors David Wilkinson and Julia Silvester are calling for the road to be repaired.

Cllr Wilkinson said: “There are a number of potholes in the road and it is clear that the council definitely needs to look into our request.” (more…)

‘Fix our broken road’

Broken paving stones on Leigh RoadLeigh Road residents are calling for road and footpath defects to be repaired whilst the road is closed for major gas works.

They have been in touch with the Liberal Democrat team to report a number of broken parts of the road, sunken manhole covers and broken paving stones on the footpaths. (more…)

Greenfields Private Members ClubThe national supermarket chain ALDI are considering building a new supermarket on the site of Greenfields Private Members’ Club, according to press speculation.

Locals face great wall

Residents of Collingwood Way have battled against developers who want to build houses on the green field site.

But developers decided to put up the huge fence which spoils the view - and for no apparent reason. (more…)
