An evening of music and entertainment has raised more than £1,000 for two Westhoughton charities.

Westhoughton town mayor Deirdre McGeown held the event on February 24 at the Westhoughton Lions clubhouse in Daisy Hill.

The money raised will be split between Westhoughton Snior Solutions and Tots and Toddlers at the John Holt Centre.

Musicians from Lucia Strings provided the evening’s entertainment and a raffle was held to raise vital funds for the good causes.

Councillor McGeown said: “Thank you to everyone who came to my charity event, especially the Mayor of Bolton, Mayors and consorts of Blackrod and Adlington and Deputy Mayor of Horwich and consort; who were amazing and never complained when asked to help fold the raffle tickets.

“It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening.”
