Platform for public transport comments

Dicconson LanePeople in Bolton are being given the chance to raise public transport issues face-to-face with the managers responsible for running their services this weekend. Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Authority (GMPTA) is hosting a Transport Operator Surgery on the central platform of the town’s Moor Lane Bus Station on Saturday 2 February, between 11am and 1pm. Legal ping-pong causes fresh car park delays for Daisy Hill railway station

011.JPGPlans for a new car park for Daisy Hill railway station have been delayed AGAIN.

The new car park, which is desperately needed to alleviate pressure on Mabel Street, has become the centre of a legal ping-pong game between Labour-run Bolton Council and the Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Authority (GMPTA).

The much-needed car park was originally approved by Liberal Democrat ward councillor David Wilkinson in 2005 but the plans have been hit with delays since Labour took over the administration of the council.

A legal dispute between Bolton Council and the GMPTA has been blamed. (more…)
