The national supermarket chain ALDI are considering building a new supermarket on the site of Greenfields Private Members’ Club, according to press speculation.

The club, located at the junction of Wigan Road and Cricketers Way, was going to be demolished to make way for new apartments. (more…)

Local campaigner David Wilkinson is demanding road safety improvements on Wigan Road.

Residents who live on the road all the way from the Cricketer’s Way junction to the Westhoughton boundary at Hart Common are fed up with the speed and volume of traffic along the road.

They have told David about the lack of any safety measures, despite traffic flows growing over the years. (more…)
