Is ALDI coming to Westhoughton?

Greenfields Private Members ClubThe national supermarket chain ALDI are considering building a new supermarket on the site of Greenfields Private Members’ Club, according to press speculation.

The club, located at the junction of Wigan Road and Cricketers Way, was going to be demolished to make way for new apartments. (more…)

Road safety work needed

Residents who live on the road all the way from the Cricketer’s Way junction to the Westhoughton boundary at Hart Common are fed up with the speed and volume of traffic along the road.

They have told David about the lack of any safety measures, despite traffic flows growing over the years. (more…)

Yes to house plans despite concerns

Rear of 203 Wigan RoadPLANS to build two new houses behind 203 Wigan Road have been passed by Labour and Tory councillors despite the busy traffic problems on Wigan Road. The plans have been passed despite concerns being raised over the poor access at a busy bend on Wigan Road. (more…)
