Residents enjoy a thank you gathering for their litter picking efforts

More than 100 bags of litter were collected by volunteer residents around Westhoughton in March.

Four litter picking mornings were held by Westhoughton Town Council and a number of residents gave up their time to get involved.

Town mayor Councillor Deirdre McGeown thanked residents for volunteering by baking cakes for them to enjoy at a thank you gathering.

Deirdre said: “It’s great to see so many residents wanting to do their bit to keep our streets clean.”
