Zebra crossing at St George’s school moves one step closer

Lib Dems getting stuff done… David Wilkinson, Alison Jackson and Deirdre McGeown at St George’s school

Plans for a new zebra crossing at St George’s school have moved a step closer, thanks to your team of Liberal Democrat councillors.

Nearby residents have provided feedback to a public consultation and the police have also confirmed that they are happy with the plans for the crossing.

The feedback will now be used to make a final decision, with a view to have the crossing installed and ready for use by the September school term.

Liberal Democrat councillors waived their part of the consultation process earlier this year to ensure that the process can be completed in time for the end of the school holidays.

Westhoughton town councillor Alison Jackson, who represents the Hoskers and Hart Common ward, said: “This will be welcome news to many parents who take their children to the school. We know how difficult it can be to cross here on The Hoskers sometimes.”
